With the release of his imperishable 2011 single Somebody That I Used to Know, Gotye became a bonafide international superstar, appearing on Saturday Night Live, the ARIA Awards, and graduating from club gigs to grand concert halls and legendary theatres like the Sydney Opera House.

While you’re more likely to see him in a packed arena than a small club these days, fans in Melbourne have a chance to experience Wally De Backer live and as intimate as you’re likely to see him any time soon. He’ll be hitting up the Northcote Social Club tonight with US experimentalists Zammuto.

Having recently wowed crowds at Sydney Festival and MONA FOMA in Hobart, the band, lead by inimitable mad scientist Nick Zammuto, who recently spoke to Tone Deaf about the unique gear that helps maintain a reputation as one of the world’s most intriguing musicians, are the first signees to Gotye’s label.

In fact, Gotye founded the label just to put Zammuto’s record out locally. If that’s enough of an endorsement for you, Gotye plans to get onstage with Nick and the rest of the boys tonight when they take over the Northcote Social Club, with support from acclaimed local duo Telling.
