Serj Tankian must be a bit of a Game of Thrones fan, as he headed along to the live GoT Concert Experience a few nights ago to give the LA crowd a riveting version of the most famous (or perhaps infamous) dirge in the entire series, ‘The Rains Of Castamere’.

While The Red Wedding was a few seasons ago now, the sighing strings work with Serj’s rich vocals to bring the shock and mourning of that event welling back up from the very first moments, and the GoT devotees in the crowd sound especially blown away by the cover.

As Ultimate Guitar report, Serj is apparently mates with the series’ composer, and teased the performance, which you can watch in full below, on social media.

“My friend Ramin Djawadi, composer of Game Of Thrones, and I playing cars?” he told fans, accompanied by an image of the pair with some toy race cars, “OR Prepping for the #GameofThronesLive show at the @TheForum”.

The first clip below gets you crisper sound, while the second gets you closer to the action, so take your pick and prepare to weep another tear for The King In The North.
