Last night the collective hearts of Soundwave fans across the country all dropped at the same time after headliner Bring Me The Horizon sent out a Facebook update revealing that they are in fact not 100% confirmed to play the event.

“To anyone hoping to see us @soundwavefest,” the band wrote on Twitter. “We are awaiting some requested info & hope to 100% confirm our involvement this week. Hang tight.”

The news was particularly distressing as Bring Me The Horizon had been touted as a major drawcard for the music festival since the initial announcement made back in October.

Soundwave boss AJ Maddah responded to distraught fans last night on Twitter, saying simply that he was “not sure what is happening” with Bring Me The Horizon but was “trying to find out now”.

It appears that he has now in fact spoken with representatives for the band, although it doesn’t appear that fans are any closer to finding out the Sheffield rockers will be playing in six weeks time or not.

Bring Me The Horizon aren’t the only band making ticket holders nervous either.

Aussie punk royalty Frenzal Rhomb sent out a bizarre Facebook status over the weekend, giving fans an update on the recovery of drummer Gordy Forman after he broke his arm in a botched attempt to stage dive at a gig in July earlier this year.

“It’s been a cunt of a 6 month stitch, but I can actually hit a drum now!,” Forman wrote. “If Soundwave manage to find heaps of money under their mattress and realise they can use that to pay the bands what they agreed upon, I might actually be able to play a song or two by then. If not, you still get Kye, who’s much younger, more handsome, and less crippled.”

The news comes after some last minute addition to the bill on Friday, with Relient K, Walls Of Jericho and Darkc3ll all joining the 2016 lineup.

Having experimented with a two-day format for their last instalment, Soundwave Festival 2016 has downsized significantly following some financial problems which saw the original Soundwave company enter administration owing creditors millions.

2016 will see the festival return to the single-day format, hitting up venues up the east coast in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.

Tickets for Soundwave 2016 are available now via the official Soundwave website. Check below for all dates and ticketing details, as well as the full lineup. Make sure you stay tuned to Tone Deaf for more Soundwave 2016 news.
