Szymon Borzestowski’s name is one that, for many Australian music fans, immediately evokes memories of deftly penned, vulnerable music written and recorded by a promising young homegrown musical talent.

Szymon’s debut, Tigersapp, has been widely acclaimed as one of the best Australian releases of 2015, signalling the debut of a talented and promising young songwriter with a long career ahead of him.

But in 2012, at just 23 years of age, Szymon Borzestowski lost his ongoing battle with depression. His debut was a heartfelt posthumous release put together by Szymon’s family. It received international acclaim.

Now, Szymon’s family have organised a special tribute to the fallen talent. His debut album, Tigersapp, will be recreated and performed live for the very first time at Splendour In The Grass this July.

The songs will be performed by a band comprised of Szymon’s siblings, Dom, Eva, and Kubush Borzestowski and brother in-law Josh Irwin. They’ll be joined by guest vocalists from some of Australia’s biggest acts, to be announced soon.

“We are thrilled to be offered this amazing opportunity to honor our brother and friend Szymon and his music on such an incredible platform,” said Szymon’s sister Eva in a statement.

“We are so excited to perform, but never imagined we’d be performing Szymon’s music without him. We simply want to do justice to his art, and revel in the beauty of his incredible music.”

To celebrate the announcement, Szymon’s family have released a special animated video for the single ‘Floods’. The video was created by artist and filmmaker Casual Psychotic.
