With everything from glitter boobs in crisp yet freezing weather, to surprise sets and huge guest appearances, the 2017 iteration of Australia’s favourite music shindig, Splendour In The Grass, has come and gone again. And blimey was the fest over and done for quickly – almost as quickly, in fact, as the version of ‘All My Friends’ headliners LCD Soundsystem smashed out on Sunday evening.

Our photographer Mikki Gomez was there to capture plenty of the highlights to look back on, from Powderfinger’s surprise reunion to Dune Rats’ wild-as-always set and Tash Sultana’s crowning moment.

Check out our photo gallery below, and check out our review right over here to read about what made this Splendour in particular such a special year for the festival.

Friday

HAIM

The sisters had the crowd going with a mixture of songs from their latest and first album.

Maggie Rogers

A surprisingly energetic act from this Brooklyn singer-songwriter.

Peking Duk

The amphitheatre was packed for Peking Duk’s set who brought in guests after guests. From Safia to Dan Sultan and Aluna George, not a bad replacement for late withdrawal George Ezra.

Tash Sultana

Australia’s favourite multi-instrumentalist, beat boxer and singer did not disappoint.

Big Scary

Big Scary has plenty of room to work with on the enormous Splendour stage.

Vera Blue

Great way to start off the festival, Vera Blue filled up the Mix Up tent.

The xx

One of the most anticipated acts of the festival, The xx closed the first night with their chill tunes and mini light show.

Saturday

Vallis Alps

The electronic duo drew a large crowd with their dreamy beats.

Bernard Fanning/Powderfinger

A legend in his own right, punters were treated to a last minute Powderfinger reunion. The band had everyone on their feet belting out ‘(Baby I’ve Got You) On My Mind’, ‘These Days’ and ‘Wish You Well’.

Catfish and the Bottlemen

The rock-n-roll vibe continued on the second day with the English lads rocking hard on stage.

Dune Rats

Entering the stage on pee-wee bikes, giant inflatable tinnies, confetti filled inflatable balls – these boys never fail to entertain their fans and the photographers.

Queens of the Stone Age

QOTSA left Aussie fans wanting more when their sideshows sold out in minutes flat, but the lucky Splendour crowd were absolutely satisfied.

Sunday

Royal Blood

Rock duo Royal Blood impressed the crowd when Ben Thatcher (drummer) gave the shoey a go.

LCD Soundsystem

The major headliner and the most anticipated act of the festival, LCD Soundsystem had both the young and old on their feet.

Client Liaison

From vibrant costumes to Tina Arena, Client Liaison was one of the most colourful acts of the festival.

Meg Mac

Meg Mac gave us a taste of what her upcoming tour will be like.

Kirin J Callinan

Never one to hold back, Kirin J delivered a provocative performance.

Tove Lo

One of the most anticipated sets of the festival, Tove Lo absolutely delivered.

ScHoolboy Q

The rapper was welcomed just as warmly by the Splendour crowd as he was last time round at Laneway Festival.

The Smith Street Band

Judging by Wil Wagner’s claims of vomming later in the night, it seems the Smith Street lads had as much fun as the punters.

Stormzy

It felt as though London-based rapper, Stormzy, managed to squeeze an amphitheatre crowd into the Mix Up tent.

Sigur Rós

Everyone’s favourite Icelandic band, Sigur Rós, gave us a brilliant, ambient performance.

And finally, the crowd!
