UPDATE 22/07/15: Splendour In The Grass organisers have announced a replacement act – full details here!

It’s down to the eleventh hour for Splendour In The Grass, which is set to kick off this weekend at Byron Bay, complete with one of the most lauded lineups the beloved Aussie festival has had in recent memory.

However, the event has now been hit with a last-minute cancellation courtesy of British rock band Catfish & The Bottlemen, who’ve taken to Facebook to announce they have cancelled their entire Australian tour.

“It is with huge regret that, due illness in the band and crew, Catfish and the Bottlemen will not be playing their planned shows this week in Australia and Japan; including Splendour in the Grass and Fuji Rocks festivals,” they write.

“The band are obviously absolutely devastated not to be making the trip and hope fans will understand. For the band’s headline shows in Melbourne and Sydney, please contact your point of purchase for refund details.”

Splendour In The Grass organisers are yet to issue a statement on the band’s cancellation, how it could affect the event’s timetables, which were released earlier this month, or whether a replacement will be announced.

Catfish & The Bottlemen were slated to play early in the afternoon on Friday on the Amphitheatre stage, in between sets from Marmozets and locals San Cisco. They were also scheduled to play sideshows in Melbourne and Sydney.
