Steps didn’t fade away the minute their hit single 5,6,7,8 faded out, instead staying together for long enough to be the subjects of two different greatest hits collections, after an impressive five-year run which saw them land 14 top five singles in the UK, and shift 20 million records worldwide.

Actually, that’s a lot of UK hits. Let’s make that four greatest hits collections.

The band split in 2001, and reformed briefly in 2011 to appear in a four-part TV series and pump out a lacklustre Christmas album.

Despite activity slowing shortly after the show aired, the band insisted they didn’t break up… again, and the release of the below video clip would certainly prove them correct.

The song is called ‘Scared Of The Dark’ and is the lead single from their forthcoming album Tears On the Dancefloor, out April 21. It’s quite a good song, although it appears to be heavily… let’s be nice and say borrowed, from ‘Unbreak My Heart’ by Toni Braxton.

Check it out below; there’s even a new Steps dance to learn.
