‘Back For Good’ by Take That is perhaps the strongest argument to date that boy bands can be, and sometimes should be, taken seriously – such is the undeniable nature of that song.

“Got your lipstick mark still on your coffee cup” is one of the loneliest lines ever penned (by member Gary Barlow), and it almost makes up for the vaguest non-apology in the history of music: “Whatever I said, whatever I did, I didn’t mean it.” How does he know he didn’t mean it, if he doesn’t know what he actually did wrong?

But I digress. The reason I bring this tune up is because Take That have announced their first national Australian tour in over 22 years, with a run of arena shows this November.

Now, it’s the Robbie-less Take That, a streamlined three-piece after original member Jason Orange also left the group a few years ago, and although they are touring a new-ish album, Wonderland, it’ll be sure to be a hits set considering they haven’t toured nationally since their mid-’90s sales peak.

The official quote from the band seems so PR’d I almost didn’t include it, but it’s amusing how non-enthused it sounds: “We’re thrilled to be coming back to Australia and New Zealand, and can’t wait to perform all the songs our audience know and love.”

Tickets will be available from next Thursday, April 13. Check out the tour dates under this gem.
