After playing a string of sold out shows in 2010, Select Touring in association with Billions Australia is proud to announce The Tallest Man on Earth’s highly anticipated return to Australia in February 2013, including special performances at the Recital Hall in Melbourne, the Opera House in Sydney, and his first ever performances in Canberra and Hobart.
Kristian Matsson, aka the Tallest Man on Earth, is 29-year-old songwriter from Dalarna, Sweden. He first made himself known back in 2006 after an incredibly successful tour of the USA with Bon Iver.
He remained one of those “talked about” artists who kept himself just a little under the radar, completely DIY yet vigorously touring and building his loyal fan base. In 2010 he signed with US label Dead Oceans and released his sophomore album “The Wild Hunt’.
A record rooted in song writing and a deep folk tradition, with Matsson’s wordplay and deft guitar work at the centre.
Praises for the Tallest Man on Earth continued to build and he sold out venues like Webster Hall and Town Hall in New York City, The Fillmore and Fox Theatre in San Francisco, Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London and took the stage at festivals like Coachella, Green Man, Roskilde, Pitchfork and Sasquatch.
Matsson then returned to his home in Dalarna, Sweden, and spent the winter months of late 2011 and early 2012, recording “There’s No Leaving Now”, his third full-length album.
After enormous praise from fans and industry alike he then embarked on a worldwide tour starting with a headline a show at legendary New York venue Town Hall.
