After shooting to pretty much the pinnacle of Australian music in the space if a year, not to mention jumping straight into a worldwide following as well, there’s probably just a little bit of pressure building on Tash Sultana as she readies a new volley of music to follow on from recent debut EP Notion.

If there is, you wouldn’t know it from the freshly-unveiled ‘Mellow Marmalade’ which, as its title would suggest, is about as far from stressed as one can be. Featuring Tash wielding nothing more than an acoustic guitar and her signature pipes, it eschews the long buildup of loops and constant busywork in favour of a much more relaxed performance.

For now, it exists solely as one of her self-released home demos – the sort of raw and revealing effort that saw her build such a monstrous fanbase to begin with – and it has us hanging to hear not only a full-fat studio version, but also the next song, and the next, and the one after that.

You can’t catch her on her national tour right now as all twelve dates have of course completely sold out, but there are a few chances to see her on a festival lineup. If you’re craving more, also give her latest interview a listen, which includes some more performances of her breakout singles.
