Tash Sultana was without a doubt the Australian music success story of 2016, with her debut efforts and candid recordings shooting her to global stardom in record time.

Having sold out every show she’s put on sale on top of constant festival appearances on her way to a #3 finish on the triple j Hottest 100m, she hasn’t slowed things down one bit, immediately following it all with a European tour that will carry her through to September, when she’ll then conquer the U.S. in much the same way.

But while she hasn’t stopped since it all began, she’s taken a moment to share a video with fans that details exactly how she’s feeling about the whole thing, cut with some of the highlights she’s experienced so far.

Described by Tash as an “honest conversation about how [she’s] feeling at this point in time”, the clip details her early battles with self-doubt, and the realisations that have come since.

“I remember at the start when I was getting into music, I couldn’t believe that there were some people who just hated it – hated it,” she says. “And then I was like, that’s such an ignorant thing for me to think about myself, that everyone would enjoy that, because I don’t enjoy everything.

“But there’s a margin of people that absolutely will love the shit that you’re doing, and that’s it,” she adds. “That is your focus, and that’s it. Just them, not the other people. It took me ages to learn that.”

Unfortunately for fans, the sold-out Splendour in the Grass will be the last chance to see Tash in Australia until she heads back for her appearance at Canberra’s Spilt Milk festival in November.
