Canadian trio The Tea Party are heading to Sydney for a massive show at the Star, and because they had a bit of extra room in the van, they have decided to bring along a 48-piece orchestra to perform on stage with them.

Their similar symphony show at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall has already sold out, so it goes without saying that this show will also sell quickly. The Tea Party is still comprised of the three founding members: Jeff Martin, Jeff Burrows and Stuart Chatwood.

Australia has been a fertile market for the Tea Party (read: we bloody love them) with triple j absolutely smashing everything from their 1995 record The Edges Of Twilight onwards. That album hit the top 10 here thanks to the station’s support, and the band continued to sell well here until their first hiatus a decade later, touring the country three times in 2002 alone. Frontman Jeff Martin actually lives in Perth, so the feeling is mutual, it would seem.

Ticketing details, and dates are below their 1998 hit ‘Heaven Coming Down’.
