Despite seeming like an ill-conceived Family Guy joke, it actually makes a lot of sense that Josh Radnor, who spent nine years playing Ted Mosby on sitcom How I Met Mother, and Ben Lee have started a musical project together.

Both guys are spiritual adventurers: the two independent films Radnor has directed and written have a yearning for truth, much like Ben Lee’s numerous, spiritually-infused records.

This search is reflected in the first Radnor & Lee track: ‘Be Like The Being’, a Lauren Canyon sounding track, which sits somewhere between Cat Stevens, The Lumineers, and Ben Lee’s most recent record, the joyful, serene Ben Lee Sings Songs about Islam for the Whole Family. The pair have been gigging sporadically over the past year in L.A., but this marks the first non-backstage recording they have released.

Check it out below – there’s an album on its way sometime this year.
