For those uninitiated, Teen Sensations are Brissy dreamboats Georgie Sensation (George Browning), Your Sensation (Yuri Johnson), Jerry Sensation (Jeremy Neale), and Corky Sensation (Corey Herekiuha) together the guys produce bubblegum surf pop, separately they each feature in about 100 other bands around town.

The guys recently released their new single ‘Monster Beach Party’, a follow on from their previous hit single ‘Peruvian 60′ which dropped earlier this year. The band are about to head out on a little east Coast tour, and to celebrate, Your Sensation (aka Yuri Johnson) has put together a list of some of his favourite teen sensations.

The Vamps

I don’t know anything about these guys except they appear in a lot of Sophie Turner’s (from Game of Thrones) Instagram photos, both in concert and social situations.

Is she going out with one of them?

Anybody know?

East 17

Don’t know if these guys were actual teens, but they certainly projected themselves that way.

They did a cover of ‘West End Girls’ and I always wondered if the band (and their fans) knew that every Pet Shop Boys song is a shrewdly veiled depiction of homosexual culture.

Anybody know?

King Krule

Hmm. This is a dirty-looking ginger teen from England.

The music reminds me of the Streets, but my knowledge of music is pretty shallow, so that’s probably a far-fetched comparison.

His songs are actually pretty good but I reckon he’d be a punisher at parties.

Take That

Were they teens? I guess they were at some point.

They did a faithful but pointless cover of The Bee Gees’ ‘How Deep is Your Love’ and they did a song called ‘Relight My Fire’ which I think was a cover?

It had an anachronistic sound to it anyway. And I think the singer “Lulu” guested on it. Maybe it was her song originally and they were throwing her a bone. Did Lulu fall on hard times in the 90’s?

Michael Jackson

What music did Michael Jackson make as a teen? He was a pre-teen when he did the best known Jackson 5 songs (I think). Was he a teen when he made ‘Off the Wall’? I like some songs off that.

I recently discovered ‘Rock With You’ which is some silky-smooth disco with very tight harmonies (sounds like Mike did them all himself).

Jaden & Willow Smith

Like most of us I read that insane interview they did the other day.

I’m of the opinion this particular brand of hubris/madness is incurable.

I think a lot of famous people reach a tipping point where they start to believe all the malformed nonsense running around in their brains is some divine wisdom. The Smith family obviously reached that point a while ago and I think Russell Brand has too.

TATU

Don’t remember much about these guys but they were Russian lesbians right? And doesn’t Vladamir Putin say there aren’t gay people in Russia? Maybe that was Bob Katter.

Anyway, it would be weird if Putin denied the existence of gays, knowing TATU are a well catalogued part of his country’s history. Using military force to annex portions of other countries is pretty weird too.

Hanson

It’s kind of weird that Frank Sinatra is looked upon with unflinching reverence when he never played an instrument or wrote a song in his life. Meanwhile, Hanson are derided for excelling in every arena.

Sure, they never wrote ‘Strangers in the Night’ but NEITHER DID FRANK SINATRA.

And do you think Ol’ Blue Eyes could have played the drums on Mmm Bop? I guess we’ll never know. My guess is he’d have gone running back to Patsy’s restaurant confused and defeated.
