Earlier this month the folk over at Triple J announced the nominees for their three coveted awards of Australian Album of the Year, Unearthed Artist of the Year, Australian Music Video of the Year as well as the inaugural Double J Australian Artist of the Year, and as of this evening, they have now announced the winners.

Taking home the prestigious Australian Album of the Year is the bearded crowd favourite Chet Faker for his debut record Built On Glass. It’s been a massive year for the Melbourne crooner, having sold-out tours around the country charming hearts on his way.

Accepting the award via video message, Chet Faker said “Thank you so much for the J Award for Album of the Year. I still remember a few years ago first hearing my song on Triple J and freaking out then, so it’s a great honour. Thanks for the love and support back home from the best radio station in Australia.”

The very deserving winner of Unearthed Artist of the Year has been awarded to none other than Meg Mac, the 24-year old soul-pop priestess who has dropped a number of killing tracks this including ‘Every Lie’ and ‘Roll Up Your Sleeves’. Mac joins a powerful pedigree of Unearthed winners Boy & Bear (2010), Ball Park Music (2011), The Rubens (2012) and Remi (2013), there’s no question the youngster is destined for great things.

The award for the inaugural Double J Artist of the Year is the spectacular Mia Dyson. After spending a decade honing her skills as a musician and songwriter, Dyson gave us Idyllwild, her most accomplished record to date. The album is 11-tracks of authentic, roots-rock brilliance and its songs traverse many different genres, emotions and subjects.

Finally, the award for Australian Music Video of the Year is unsurprisingly Sia with the epic ‘Chandelier’. Having 11-year-old Maddie Ziegler wear a platinum wig, leap and crawl through an abandoned office space, as a camera tracks her from room to room has not only left a mark on 2014, but music video history. On top of this, the music vic has been viewed nearly 300 million times, both Sia and Co-director by Daniel Askill should be extremely proud it’s cultural impact.

With such a killer year for Aussie music, we cannot wait to see what is waiting in 2015.
