Every week a plethora of big name acts, Australian musicians and little-known musos drop brand spankin’ new tracks on the internet. We’ve trawled through the internet to find some of our favourites and plucked them from the masses. Grab your headphones and enjoy.

Jack Garratt – ‘Worry’

From his beats-driven electro backing to his beard, it’s very tempting to peg Jack Garratt as the UK’s answer to Chet Faker. While he’s definitely got the croon and the same sensual sensibilities, ‘Worry’ is looser of spine, the funk more rubbery thanks to a snapping rhythm section that really leans back on the meter and cop those squelchy bass synths! There’s but a single four-track EP to his name (out 14th July), but with dates in his native homeland selling out and press picking up on his chops, expect to hear more from Jack Garratt in the not-too-distant-future. Fractures – ‘Won’t Win’

As we plugged earlier this week Melbourne’s Mark Zito aka the multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and producer behind Fractures, is one of the local tours we think you should attend. Why? Well if you aren’t already familiar with the melancholic production and emotive vocals of Zito from tracks like ‘Cadence’, ‘Twisted’ or ‘Ambers’ you most probably will be after he drops his self-titled debut EP on the 4th of July. ‘Won’t Win’ is the first single of this seven track offering and it provides for a slightly more polished take on what we’ve already heard from Fractures. Zito’s vocals sound more delicate, the production more entrancing and the chorus even more ear worm worthy than what he’s created in the past.(CT)

Firekites – ‘The Counting’

We’ve been waiting six years, but it’s almost here; come August 15th Firekites will release their second album Closing Forever Sky (via Spunk Records) the anticipated follow up to their incredible debut, The Bowery.

‘The Counting’ is the second track released from the upcoming album, and it’s definitely a ‘headphones’ track, full of delicate twists and new aural discoveries with each repeated listen. (LD)

Real Lies – ‘Circular’

There’s something paralysingly nostalgic about UK trio Real Lies’ superb new track, ‘North Circular’, which takes the setting of the road of the same name that winds and stretches through the concrete urban jungle of North London.

It plays out like a coming-of-age film – an ode to the essence of youth, and to that harrowingly poignant feeling that lingers whenever you reminisce on those one or two particularly special weekends you wish you could relive but never will, despite all your desperate longing. (DM)

Circa Waves – ‘Young Chasers’

British four piece Circa Waves have just released their new single ‘Young Chasers’ two minutes of straight-up, no fuss British indie pop at its best.

Following appearances at this year’s Great Escape and Sound City festivals and a sold-out headline show at London’s Lexington, the band have announced a number of festival shows over the summer, including a prestigious slot on the 2nd stage at stage at Glastonbury, Summer Sonic in Japan, Oya in Norway and our very own Splendour In The Grass. They will join Metronomy for national dates in July.(LD)

Kimbra – ‘Nobody But You’

Kimbra’s star-studded second album, The Golden Echo, has already got us pretty excited, chiefly thanks to its all-star list of collaborators but also thanks to deliciously chaotic lead single ’90s Music’.

Now the New Zealand singer-songwriter has dropped a new full-length cut from the album, slinky up-beat funk of ‘Nobody But You’, stars the Kiwi’s characteristic vocal layers in a striking mix of growling synths and rich back-end. There’s also a fascinating little piano end-piece that hints how sonic segues will play a big part in linking the 12 tracks of Kimbra’s new set. (AN)

White Summer – ‘Smoke Screen’

As the people of Mildura (and Australia) were still wiping the dust from their eyes after Triple J’s One Night Stand after-party, a Melbourne four-piece White Summer has been riding the hype and creating a very big buzz. White Summer moshed with thousands in Mildura at the after-party yet, unbeknown to them, they themselves were about to become apart of a rock craze sweeping the country.

New track, ‘Smoke Screen’ just dropped and it’s rollicking rhythm and stomping beat lays itself down ready to be embraced by rock fans all over. Packed with attitude and building anticipation through pattering drums and distorted guitar licks it’s fair to say they’ve arrived, and in a big way. (JM)

LANKS – ‘Boniki’

Melbourne multi-instrumentalist and producer, LANKS aka Will Cuming has just released his stellar debut EP Thousand Piece Puzzle. Our ‘Profile’ on LANKS from earlier this year described him as a “mix-up of folktronica, minimal techno, asian pop and beat poetry” a description that though vast, is pretty much spot on.

Lead track off the EP ‘Boniki’ was inspire explains LANKS as “a direct result of watching the anime film, Howl’s Moving Castle. I finished watching and sat down and this was the song that came out. The guitars have that dreamy, oriental sound to them.” (LD)
