Hi, I’m Charlie Collins from Tigertown. We are a five piece band from Sydney currently touring our new single “What You Came Here For” across Australia. We have been together for roughly around 2 years and have released 2 ep’s and about to release our 3rd which we are super excited about. We are all related in the band! I’m married to the guitarist/singer, Chris Collins and his brother and sister are the bass player and keyboardist and my brother is the drummer.

You’re currently on your ‘What You Came Here For’ National Tour, what can we expect from these upcoming shows?

We have been playing a lot of the new tracks off our up coming ep which has been exciting to see peoples reactions. So far so good. We also have the band “The Starry Field” on the road with us and they are absolutely amazing!

What is the visual concept behind the new video for ‘What You Came Here For’?

We wanted to get that real 70’s feel and have a clip of us just being “us” we shot this clip on a super 8 camera while we were recoding our ep up in Portland.

You’ve just finished recording your third EP. Tell us about your recording process when we should expect to hear it?

We made this ep with Liam Judson in a beautiful home in Portland. It was great to just set up camp in a house for a week and it gave this ep a real organic feel to it. We are hoping to release it in the next couple of months.

What other Australian artists are you currently listening to?

Josh Pyke, Matt Corby, The Preatures, Boy and Bear, Emma Louise, Bob Evans.

Tigertown have done a lot of touring this year, what has been your most memorable show and why?

I think it would have to be our show at Black Bear lodge as it was our first sell out show. It was amazing to see all those people come just to see us and have them singing the words to our music. Very flattering.

Do you have any particular ritual before you go on stage?

We normally have a little band huddle and a prep talk before we go on stage just to get focussed and be in the right head space.

If you could curate your own festival, where would it be, who would be on the bill, how many people would you let in and what features would it have?

The festival would be in India at the Taj Mahal. On the bill would be David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac and Bruce Springsteen. This concert will be put on for all the homeless men, women and children. I would get all my relatives to put on a big curry feast, and at the end of the night the artists would then break out in a Bollywood musical together with some local sitar players.

Because it’s more fun to do things together, which living artist from anywhere in the world would you most like to collaborate with?

I would love to work with Ryan Adams. I am a massive fan of his writing, it reminds me of how Johnny Cash used to write. Every song is a beautiful story and the lyrics move me like nothing else.

What is your band’s music the best soundtrack for?

The Labyrinth

What’s in store for Tigertown for the rest of 2013 and looking into 2014?

Touring the new ep and hopefully go into recording our first album. It would also be cool to do some international shows.
