As it currently stands, its been 3,994 days since Tool released their last album 10,000 Days, and fans couldn’t be more eager to hear new music. Every announcement the band makes seems to relate only to tour dates, with very little information regarding their mythical fifth album. However, the group have now posted a mysterious image on Twitter, and fans are going nuts trying to work out what it means.

While Tool’s frontman Maynard is currently busy working on the new A Perfect Circle album, and his other project Puscifer is between albums, it looks like it could be high time for news on the Tool front, right? Well, following on from the announcement of a bunch of tour dates for the group, A myserious image has popped up on the group’s Twitter and Facebook accounts, prompting fans to speculate on what it may mean.

As Consequence Of Sound reports, Tool’s official Twitter account shared out an image of the Glen Helen Amphitheater in San Bernardino, California, with the group’s logo and numbers “6-24” superimposed into the grass. While most fans are assuming that the numbers probably refer to the date of June 24th, the question remains as to what exactly is set to happen on said date.

Tool’s current tour dates run up until June 23rd, with their last scheduled tour date taking place in Sacramento, California, so taken on face value, it’s probably a safe bet that the pictured location is where they’ll play a show on that date. But why then haven’t they announced the show, or is this their typically enigmatic way of announcing it? Considering the tour wraps up the day before, could it mean that they’re planning to finish up the tour with new music dropping the day after? Unlikely, we know, but we can still dream.

Or could it be the date that we end up seeing all of Tool’s music finally come to streaming services? Considering the buzz that this news garnered when it was announced, it’s also a strong possibility. But remember that we saw recent news that Maynard has been working on vocals for the new album, so we’re just going to hope that this fabled fifth album might finally be on its way. In the meantime, let’s reminisce with ‘Vicarious’, from 10,000 Days.
