A tragic vehicle accident has occurred in Florida, injuring six, and claiming the life of David Zablidowsky, bassist for the heavy metal supergroup Adrenaline Mob.

As The Gainesville Sun reports, the accident occurred on Friday afternoon local time, after a tractor-trailer veered off the road, hitting the band’s vehicle. The band’s vehicle was stopped at the side of the road with a flat tyre at the time, while on their way to a gig in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The Gainesville Sun reports that nine people were in the two vehicles, with one fatality being recorded, and six others being taken to local hospitals, with three listed as stable, and three listed as critical.

Noted music historian and reporter Eddie Trunk took to his website to announce that the fatality was Adrenaline Mob’s David Z. “Tragic news today involving a band that has endured way too much, Adrenaline Mob,” the post began. “They are on tour and today their vehicle was hit by a tractor trailer. This is still a very fresh and developing situation and news is still coming in. I have received return texts from Mike Orlando and Russell Allen, so they seem to be somewhat okay. I did not know the band’s drummer but hoping for the best for him and all involved.”

However I do have confirmation of the absolutely tragic news that bassist David Z has passed away,” Trunk added. “I first met David, his brother Paulie Z, and drummer Joey Cassata during their days as a Kiss tribute. Later they became the trio ZO2 and came on my shows many times.”

David Z had also played with noted rock acts such as the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Jeff Scott Soto band. He joined Adrenaline Mob earlier this year, performing alongside bandmates Russell Allen of Symphony X, Mike Orlando, and Jordan Cannata.

Former drummer of both Dream Theater and Adrenaline Mob, and close friend of Zablidowsky’s, Mike Portnoy, also took to Twitter to share his shock at the news of the tragic events.

Neither representatives for the band, nor Zablidowsky’s family have made statements regarding his passing at this time, our thoughts go out to his family, friends, and bandmates during this awful time.
