“I’m not gonna say I was fine, ‘cos I wasn’t.”

“Everything’s just kinda this blur, ya’know, until you hit rock bottom.”

“I wanna be strong for my fans.”

They are just three of the lines our hero deadpans in the trailer for Britney, the new Lifetime cable movie about the “tumultuous true story” of Britney Spears.

The trailer also features the head shaving incident, the flipping out at the press after the head shaving incident, a shot of her smoking with a thousand-yard stare, (one of) the shotgun wedding(s), and some pig-tails-era choreography.

So, it’s exactly as the trailer for a budget telemovie about Britney Spears’ life should be.

Natasha Basset will play Britney, and judging by the glimpse we get of her in the trailer, she bears a passable resemblance to the star. (Not as close as the uncanny Jennie Garth lookalike Lifetime cast for the 90210 telemovie, but they’ll never top this)

The two hour film debuts in the US on February 18, and will follow her career from a young Louisiana girl with stars in her eyes (or something) through to her relationship with Justin Timberlake, her personal issues, her numerous weddings, the custody hearing that saw her lose her kids, and her glorious resurrection. It’s gonna be fun – plus they have definitely cast actors to play JT and Kevin Federline, which is a treat in itself.

Britney is directed by Leslie Libman, who previously helmed the quite-decent Manson’s Lost Girls. Check out the trailer below.
