When you get a bunch of the world’s biggest rock bands together in the same place at the same time, there’s bound to be a gross story or two to come out of it. Sure enough, the Big Day Out 2000 lineup did not disappoint one bit.

Whilst it’s remained unknown to the public until now, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker recently revealed what might be the grossest Big Day Out story ever. Or the funniest, depending on how sick your sense of humour happens to be.

As Consequence of Sound reports, Barker was speaking to US radio station KROQ at their recent Weenie Roast music festival, where Blink were amidst a lineup that featured Weezer, Empire of the Sun, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Unfortunately, RHCP’s performance was cancelled at the last-minute due to frontman Anthony Kiedis’s health issues, but when Barker was asked if he was looking forward to seeing the band, he recounted a gross and hilarious tale.

“I remember when we were in Australia, Chad Smith would pee into [Foo Fighters drummer] Taylor Hawkins’s fan,” Barker recalled. “It’s like the worst practical joke ever [laughs] I don’t think [Chad] would appreciate it if I peed in his fan, but yeah.”

Barker then pretty much summed the situation and our thoughts on it: “It was so funny, but so wrong.” Meanwhile, Barker’s bandmate Mark Hoppus simply explained that he would “fly home” if that had happened to him.

However, despite being sprayed with Smith’s urine at high velocity during the 2000 Big Day Out tour, there’s no bad blood between Hawkins and the RHCP drummer. As CoS notes, Hawkins recently joined Smith for his drum battle against Will Ferrell.

As far as gross rock star stories go, that’s got to be up there with Ozzy Osbourne taking a dump in his bandmates’ shoes. Check out Barker regaling us with the tale in the video below. It begins at around the 7:05 mark.
