After the recent news that Tupac’s breakup letter to Madonna was headed to auction, and now a letter from John Lennon to his ex-wife Cynthia, it sounds as if every musician’s dirty laundry is destined to end up in the hands of collectors. Thankfully though, it’s just not just painful memories and baggage up for grabs, as some handwritten lyrics to an unreleased Prince song are set to under the hammer.

As Rolling Stone reports, the lyrics are reportedly a working draft of a song from around 2001. Seemingly titled ‘Electric Rush’, the song was never released, though the phrase ‘electric rush’ does appear in the late musician’s 2007 collaboration with his prodigy Bria Valente, titled ‘Here Eye Come’.

Of course, the lyrics are also written on purple paper, and are expected to fetch upwards of USD $8,000.

However, if that’s not quite your cup of tea, there are plenty of other musical oddities up for grabs in the auction, including a pair of Prince’s purple pants, a used Bob Dylan harmonica, a signed copy of the Sex Pistols’ Never Mind The Bollocks (including Sid Vicious’s signature), and even that infamous green umbrella that Britney Spears used to attack some paparazzi back in 2007.

So if you’re keen on owning a bit of musical history, make your way over to RR Auction’s ‘Pop Culture Auction’, which begins August 10th and runs until August 17th. Be warned though, nothing worth having is going to come cheap!
