Anyone lucky enough to experience the musical wonder years of the new millennium would be more than fluent with the work of Melbourne punk/rap group 28 Days.

Covering the two musical genres synonymous with adolescent blossoming, the groups second release not only grabbed critical acclaim (in the form of a #1 ARIA Album chart position, as well going platinum), but became an album which would go beyond the lifetime of many punk albums of that era.

The combination of heavy guitar riffing and cleverly placed turntablist touches provide the release with a unique atmosphere,  tying in nicely with lead vocalist Jay Dunne’s inimitable hip hop vibe.

Stand outs on the album are plentiful, but one undoubtedly takes the cake in a well-rounded release. ‘Rip It Up’ provided one of the last decades favourite live deliveries, with crowds ranging from packed outdoor festivals to tightly filled live venues across the country.

The blend of catchy vocal phrases, classic rock tailoring and a modern spin of hip hop makes for an easily identifiable rock anthem.

Continuing on with these themes, ‘Sucker’ provides a slightly mellower touch, but nonetheless, maintains the ingredients that exploded 28 Days into the charts and into venues across the country for the best part of a decade.

Upstyledown is without a doubt, best experienced as loud as possible. Be prepared for trip down memory lane, with the likelihood of keeping both feet firmly on the ground a fools bet.
