James Gabriel Keogh, also known as Vance Joy, is probably best-known for being a classmate of Nick Murphy back in the day (oh, and for releasing the song ‘Riptide’, we guess). Lately though, he’s been a little quiet, with his most recent release being 2014’s Dream Your Life Away. Well, start pencilling Vance Joy in for your Hottest 100 shortlists again, because he’s dropping a new single this week.

Despite not releasing too much new stuff in recently, Vance has been keeping pretty busy. You might recall that he played last year’s AFL Grand Final, and he was also the opening act for Taylor Swift’s global tour a couple of years back. Needless to say, we wouldn’t be surprised if he told us he was taking a few years off to rest.

Well that’s doesn’t seem to be the case, because Vance Joy has taken to Twitter and, in a series of posts, given us an official announcement of new music, a time to listen in, and a sneak peak of the new track. How considerate!

So if you’re keen to hear the brilliant indie-folk stylings of Vance Joy on his newest track ‘Lay It On Me’, be sure to tune in to triple j at 8am AEST on Thursday, July 13th.

In the meantime, reacquaint yourself with Vance’s most recent single, ‘Straight Into Your Arms’, from the deluxe reissue of his debut album Dreaming Your Life Away.
