After telling fans that their headline sets at May’s Groovin The Moo festivals would be their last shows for “at least a year”, Violent Soho were perhaps a bit reluctant to break their fans’ hearts like that, and have just been announced for Yours and Owls festival’s upcoming The Last Frost party this August.

Playing alongside Cloud Control, The Kite String Tangle, Cub Sport, Fazerdaze, Mookhi and Sloan Peterson it’ll be an all-ages event at the Innovation Campus at the University of Wollongong, so anyone who was too young to catch their GTM set can get in on the act.

It’ll be a relief for fans who, after an interview with guitarist James Tidswell back in March, were wondering when they’d next have a chance to see their favourite band.

“I know it’s going to be big,” James told The West Australian of the GTM shows, “it will be the best one of the whole tour and it will be so emotional for us because it will be our last time playing indefinitely.”

“There is nothing booked after that, no album, we haven’t demoed any songs, we aren’t touring so that’s it – I 100 per cent guarantee it will be at least a year before we do anything else.

“It’s been an amazing six years and it’s the end of this whole sort of ride really,” he added. “We will always be a band and always play, but this is the end of going this hard.”
