A rather charming outtake from the 2014 Foo Fighters road film turned American music history doco series Sonic Highways has hit the net, and it features Grohl listening to the first song he ever wrote and recorded, ‘Gods Look Down’, which he tracked in Seattle studio The Laundry Room.

Despite Grohl’s reaction, the song had legs – ending up on an album recorded by his pre-Nirvana band Scream. Pretty good result for what he claims is the first song he wrote.

It’s has all the elements of a classic rock tune and shows that even in his teens, Grohl had stadium-sized ambitions.

He played all the instruments on the demo himself too, a trait he would adopt again on the first Foo Fighters album.*
