A trailer has been released for American Valhalla, a forthcoming documentary about the creation of Iggy Pop’s 2016 album Post Pop Depression.

American Valhalla tells the story of an unlikely musical collaboration between two mavericks of American rock”, a synopsis for the film states.

“I became one of those singers whose career is a slave to his band,” Iggy proclaims during the trailer. “I wanted an emotional escape, so I decided I had to strike out on my own, live and on record, to see what I was worth.”

The album was ostensibly an Iggy Pop solo album, but — as the trailer shows — it was a collaboration process, with input from Homme and Dean Fertita from Queens of the Stone Age, as well as Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders.
