Metallica have just dropped a very fun teaser clip for their upcoming appearance on Carpool Karaoke, which sees them not only rocking out to their own hits, but of course tackling some very out-of-character covers.

Turns out we’re in for everything from Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’ to a cut from The Little Mermaid’s soundtrack, as the band let loose with comedian Billy Eichner, who takes over on hosting duties from show creator James Corden.

They also find themselves belting out tunes in a supermarket with members of the general public, including a man in a Pantera shirt who unfortunately messes up the words to one of Metallica’s most famous lyrics, robbing him of his true moment of glory.

This is all we get for now, but the full episode arrives on Apple Music on Tuesday August 15.

Now we’re just wondering if Robert Trujillo ever taught his 12-year-old son Tye to play bass covers of Disney classics on his way to becoming the fill in bassist for Korn on their recent tour, which was all captured in a heartwarming doco this week, narrated by the proud dad himself.
