Last week, Maynard James Keenan of Tool finally provided a solid answer as to when fans can the release of Tool’s upcoming album. The band’s frontman said that “a lot of work” has been put into the recording of the new Tool album, noting that we’ll see “some new music next year.”

“I wouldn’t be here without you guys, so thank you very much for all that,” he stated during his acceptance speech. “A lot of work’s being done, a lot of work’s been done. I’ll go on record now saying you’re gonna see some new music next year” said Keenan in his  Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards acceptance speech.

Now, a savvy Tool fan has managed to save an Instagram live started by guitarist Adam Jones on Friday night, which features 20-minutes of studio time, in which he seems to be recording guitar parts.

Some sceptical Tool fans took to Reddit to question whether Jones was actually recording new material, with one fan noting that it sounded more like a warm-up routine than a solo.

“He was actually playing solo for about 10 minutes. sounded like it was a warm-up routine and then he was just doing his thing.”

Earlier this month it was revealed that bassist Justin Chancellor was making “great process” in the studio in a Facebook post made on the band’s page.

“JUSTIN’S bass setup in the studio. Sounds like he is making great progress recording in “a great studio” said the post.

Maynard Keenan has begun “begging” his bandmates to hurry along with the album, explaining his frustrations whilst wearing riot gear as he’s afraid of fans eventually losing their patience in a rather violent manner.
