Australian rapper 360 has been one of the most prominent voices in music about mental health in recent times, frequently opening up about the demons he has faced in his past, and founding his own mental health non-profit organisation.

Taking to Facebook on Sunday night, Matt Colwell once again opened up about his ongoing fight against his worsening depression, talking candidly on his diagnosis with unipolar disorder, and a recent breakdown which left him “broken”.

Acknowledging that there is no rhyme or reason to the non-discriminating disorder, 360 continued to reaffirm his determination to tackle his depression as best he can, saying he’s at the “darkest of the dark”, but that things can only get better from here.

Colwell took to Facebook again Wednesday night to thank everyone for the outpouring of support directed his way in response to his post, but also to express an alternate point of view to the large portion of responders who replied with comments along the lines of “what have you got to be depressed about? you have everything everyone could ever want. Money, fame etc etc stop whinging”.

Rather than lashing out, he assured those people that it was okay to ask the question, as he wonders the same.

360 has long been an advocate for normalisation of mental health disorders, with his Facebook posts frequently becoming matters of discussion and praise from both his fans and the mainstream media. Hopefully his most recent posts will continue to bring much-needed attention to the matter, and serve as a way for those suffering to realise they’re not alone.
