Fans keen for a follow-up to Phoenix’s 2013 album Bankrupt! may have just gotten an excitement overload, with the group releasing the video for the new record’s first single ‘J-Boy’.

While the French rockers announced recently that their new record Ti Amo will be released in June, and after releasing the audio for ‘J-Boy’ a few weeks back, the group have appeased eager fans by releasing the quirky new video for the record’s first single just a day ago.

As Rolling Stone reports, the video takes the form of an Italian TV show in which Phoenix are the musical guests. The hosts of the fictional TV show, Ti Amo Special, kick off the video with an introduction in Italian, in which the group are compared to such luminaries as The Velvet Underground, Serge Gainsbourg, and Kraftwerk.

Soon enough, the group launch into a performance of the track, dripping in retro kitsch and featuring a light show that would make fellow countrymen Daft Punk jealous.

Phoenix’s sixth album Ti Amo is due out on June 9th, but in the meantime, check out the retro vibes at play in the video for their new single ‘J-Boy’.
