In just over a month’s time, it’ll mark one year since the passing of Soundgarden’s iconic frontman Chris Cornell. Since then, multiple tributes from fellow musicians and poured out honouring the grunge pioneers enduring impact on music.

Now, the American TV-series  ‘Autopsy: The Last Hours of…’ will dive into the mystery surrounding Cornell’s death, investigating the final hours before his untimely suicide by hanging. The show is currently being shot with director Zoran Trajkovic at the helm, with actor Paul Ayres portraying the Soundgarden vocalist, according to Alternative Nation.

The show analyses the autopsy reports of famous individuals, with Florida’s former District 14 medical examiner Dr. Michael Hunter taking over as the host. Ayres has previously performed on Broadway as part of productions like Kinky Boots.

The show is entering its eighth season, with other episodes slated to cover the deaths of other famous musicians like David Bowie, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, George Harrison and George Michael. The series premiered in February 2018, with no date set yet for Cornell’s special.

While Prophets Of Rage were in New Zealand last month, they paid tribute to Cornell, brining Serj Tankian of System Of A Down onstage to perform a moving rendition of ‘Like A Stone’.

“Not too long ago we lost a very good friend of ours, Chris Cornell. Please show him some appreciation,” stated Tom Morello,

“We miss him very much too and we’d like to do this song in his loving memory and we’d like to bring up one of our favourite Kiwis, Serj Tankian,” added Morello.
