Those who’ll recall Thundamentals’ recent troubles with Virgin Australia (the Blue Mountains hip-hop crew famously caught a baggage handler tossing their live equipment roughly onto a conveyor), will know that Australian artists have something of a history of troubles with local airlines.

The latest victims are local purveyors of all things heavy Confession and In Hearts Wake, after Jetstar cancelled their only flight to Cairns earlier today, the two bands were left stranded and unable to make a gig that was set for The Jack later tonight alongside The Amity Affliction.

According to a statement from the band, The Amity Affliction managed to make last-minute arrangements that will get them to Cairns in time for the show. “We are very sorry to let everyone know, due to Jetstar Australia cancelling the only direct flight into Cairns today; In Hearts Wake and Confession will not be able to perform at our show at The Jack tonight.”

“We have organised some cool local supports to fill in and will let you know who they are as soon as we can. For a long time Jetstar’s inability to reschedule the flight today had us thinking we would have to cancel the show also. We have left no stone unturned in trying to get to Cairns as we have been looking forward to playing this show for a long time,” they continue.

“We were nearly out of options before the legends at Independent Aviation were able to work with us and will now get us there in time to play the show. To say we are disappointed that In Hearts Wake and Confession won’t be playing tonight is an understatement, we did everything in our power to get them there also but ultimately Jetstar wouldn’t reschedule the flight.”

“We look forward to seeing you all there tonight and will let our frustration out during the show, we can’t wait, it’s going to be wild. Once again a massive thanks to Independent Aviation for making it possible for us to get there and we have nothing to say to Jetstar except – thanks for nothing!”

Meanwhile, outspoken Confession frontman Michael Crafter has been corresponding with the offending airline via Twitter, telling them, “You are full blown dumb cunts, hey.” Jetstar responded by apologising for the frontman’s “experience” and explaining that they are in fact “a low cost carrier” and not “a full blown Airline”.

After Crafter responded incredulously, Jetstar rebutted, “A full blown carrier will be the likes of Qantas”, which saw The Amity Affliction’s Joel Birch chiming in with, “You’re owned and run by Qantas, you couldn’t possibly be any more of a ‘full blown airline.'”
