Back in May we reported on the absolutely huge news that punk superstar Tom DeLonge is a massive fan of Australia’s own Amy Shark. Now, it seems that there could maybe be a collaboration of sorts down the line.

In an interview with Dave & Neil on The Music Podcast recently, Amy Shark discussed how she met up with the former Blink-182 musician and how there’s a possibility that the two could collaborate.

“One of the last emails I have is from Tom,” Amy Shark said in her interview. “I’ve been sending him demos and he was like, ‘Hey, I’m doing some more music. Maybe we can do something together.’

“I don’t want to say that that’s gonna happen, ’cause I don’t wanna start rumours… but it’s amazing, it’s really hard to digest all that.”

Amy Shark also touched on how she couldn’t help herself when it came to talking about DeLonge’s time in bands such as Blink-182 and Angels & Airwaves. “It was really funny, because I was hammering him with a few questions and then I realised ‘What are you doing?’ and I said to him, ‘I’m really sorry for asking all these questions, you’re probably so sick of it.’ And he’s like, ‘I never talk about it with anyone. No one really asks me.'”

Back in May, Tom DeLonge had taken to Facebook to discuss the meeting that he had with Amy Shark, before urging all of his followers to “Do more than follow her, buy her music,” whilst calling her music “a synth-pop blend of indie-rock and emotion.”

With Aussies currently hanging out for Amy Shark’s debut record to drop, does this mean we could end up seeing a high-profile guest star on the record, or maybe we’ll end up with some form of Shark-182 album in the works. Either way, we’re excited to see what could come from this friendship between two hugely talented musos.
