This Saturday Converse Australia will celebrate Prahran’s rich street culture; one deeply rooted in music, skate, basketball, fashion and art. And how will they do this? By holding a good old fashioned American block party of course!

The live music component will showcase veteran MC Phrase, with up and comer Illy also dropping by. We also hear that the founder of the Fool’s Gold record label, Nick Catchdubs, will be flying across exclusively for the show. Taking place on-site alongside the Converse Block Party is the Viva Prahran Skate Competition. With a prize purse of $7,000, the event attracts the best riders from around the country.

Of course it wouldn’t be a block party with out Basketball, and Converse are bringing together local ballers, Prahran retailers, and media alike, for a 3-on-3 Basketball Competition that is open to anyone keen on a dribble, with split divisions based on skill level. Finally bringing together the best of Prahran, there’ll be plenty of food from local Prahran retailers, market stalls, planned art installations, and surprises and giveaways over the day.

The Block Party is set to take place beginning 11am Saturday 14 May at Princes Gardens, Malvern Road Prahran. Free tickets are available from www.converse.com.au/blockparty and select Chapel Street Converse retailers: General Pants, Hype DC, Foot Locker, and Platypus Shoes.
