We’d like to know a little bit about you for our files, but we don’t like regurgitating press releases or asking the easy questions. At Tone Deaf we only ask the tough questions, so just hold still, grit your teeth, clench your buttocks and be still while we put on the rubber gloves, apply the thumbscrews, and pull out our thermometer while you open up and say ahhhhhhhhhhh… Truthful answers only or we drink your rider while you’re on stage.

Who gets the most ‘off stage action’ in the band? What’s the secret to their success?

Definitely Ryan (Bass Player) – he takes the ‘silent mysterious type’ to a whole new level. He once shacked up with a lady without saying a single word. Now he is engaged and he didn’t even ask the girl! Come to think of it we don’t think we have ever heard him speak….

Have you ever been arrested? Where were you, and what was it for?

Individually our records are clean, though on our 7Gigs in 7Days tour around Melbourne we had a close call. We were pulled up by the Fuzz with Paddy (drummer) riding in the back strapped into nothing but his drum kit. You can see how the rest panned out on youtube.com

What’s been the worst day job you’ve ever had?

We have had a few stinkers in our time. From TGI Friday’s Birthday Singer to setting up Grandstands. But the worst would have to be Tex (vocals) who spent 13 hours a day picking mushrooms at a farm, 5 minutes from Woop Woop.

Sex, drugs and groupies – In what order do you prefer them and how often?

Hahaha… We like to get all the ingredients under the one roof and let them sort themselves out…

Take us back to the first gig you went to. Where was it and what was the venue?

We loved the Fruit Bowl tours of the late 90’s early 00’s. Bands like Superheist, Grinspoon, 28Days, Jebediah & Super Jesus came through the north east burbs. After our first we were hooked. We actually supported Area7 at one in Eltham. We weren’t AP at the time and Tex wasn’t involved, though he was at the show (out the front, up chucking a Goon bag)

What’s your favourite site to download music from and do you ever pay for it? Can we find any of your releases there?

We always pay for our music because we believe that karma is a bitch. We believe it so much that we have offered our single ‘Never Ending Story’ FREE for download from SoundCloud and Triple J Unearthed just to keep the music gods happy.

What’s the furthest you’d go to win over a new fan?

(This applies to both genders) First we’d pick you up at 8pm, sharp. Then to some place nice. Maybe the Waterfront, Southbank. We’d order a bottle of 1978 Chateau Latour. Then tickets to the theatre where we would see Wayne Brady in concert. His humorous musical antidotes will surely have us laughing all the way back to your place. We would have you back by 11:30 so we’re not in the bad books with Daddy. If Dad isn’t home however perhaps a brandy by the fireplace and take it from there…

Right, here’s the plug section – tell us about upcoming gigs/tours and releases.

The ‘Never Ending Story’ Single Launch is at the East Brunswick Club Vic. Friday April 15. We will be embarking on a national tour in the coming months with dates yet to be announced. Stay tuned…

We’ve also got two double passes to this gig up for grabs. Head over to www.tonedeaf.com.au/win/ to enter.
