As you’re probably aware, the 29th Annual ARIA Awards went down at Sydney’s Star Event Centre last night, with musicians and industry heavyweights alike turning out to celebrate the Aussie music industry’s night of nights.

There were plenty of memorable moments, a few awkward ones, and some that were absolutely legendary. Somewhere in the middle, some of Australia’s best bands and artists were recognised for their endless hard work.

In the interests of keeping our readers abreast of everything that happened on one of the biggest nights of the Australian music industry calendar, we’ve thrown together a few moments that may have slipped by you, along with the full list of winners.

What You Missed

Before we get to the winners, let’s go over a few of the ARIA moments that you may have missed for one reason or another. Maybe because they didn’t make it to broadcast, you were too engrossed in Twitter, or you went to go get more snacks.

Matt Okine’s Acceptance Speech

It didn’t make the final broadcast but one of the best moments of the night came courtesy of triple j’s Matt Okine, who took time out from his acceptance speech for Best Comedy Release to address gender inequality in the entertainment industry.

Courtney Barnett Leaves Presenters Confused

Unfortunately, Courtney Barnett couldn’t make it to the ARIAs because she’s too busy being the biggest thing since sliced bread over in the UK. Apparently, no one told the presenters of the ARIA for Best Independent Release…

Uh, This Guy

Despite everything that went on at the ceremony last night, the only thing anybody really wants to know is who this guy who showed up in a woollen cocoon surrounded by oiled-up muscle men is?

Tina Arena Being A Legend

Tina Arena’s performance of her trademark single with Jessica Mauboy and The Veronicas was awesome and her being inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame by Kylie Minogue was also great.

However, you might have missed the part where she called out commercial radio in the middle of her acceptance speech, imploring them to play more homegrown Australian music.

Sheppard Have Great Taste In Boots

As far as we’re concerned, the entirety of last night’s ARIA Awards ceremony should’ve just been about Sheppard’s incredible dragon boots. Just look at them!

Joyride Takes Down Chet Faker

When asked by Cool Accidents “What’s funkier than Chet Faker?” The Meeting Tree’s Joyride was less than impressed. Check out his (admittedly hilarious) outburst below.

@themeetingtree weigh in on the whole Chet Faker 'it's called funk. you're welcome' debate. 💥🔫☠ #arias #joyride
