Big Day Out have released their timetables for the 2012 event as well as adding a huge swag of local acts to the lineup. But in huge news for fans in Adelaide and Perth they’ve also announced the addition of a new ‘skate’ stage made up of a 14ft high x 40ft wide vert ramp that will host the likes of Mariachi El Bronx, The Bronx, Cage The Elephant, and Reguritator.
Yes you read that right, The Bronx will be playing to special performances just for Adelaide and Perth. Also making a welcome return for the 20th anniversary is the “Big Day Out Show N Shine Competition”, featuring the best Australia has to offer in Hotrods & Muscle Cars.
A statement by promoter Ken West to the media also expressed excitment for the festival and dispelled a few rumours that had been floating around. “Hi everyone, The full picture of what’s in store is now reaching completion. Of course there is always more to discover on the day,” he wrote.
“The Big Day Out was and always will be about creating the best experience possible. Now that all the confusion has calmed we all hope you feel as excited about these shows as we do,” he wrote. “Great music, great atmosphere and much fun to be had by all. Thank you all for your support, it’s much appreciated. Just to set the record straight – there will be no special deals, discounts, “2 for 1’s” or ballots. When it sells out. That’s that.”
