Big Day Out kicks off in just a few weeks on the Gold Coast and organisers are busy running around putting the finishing touches on everything from stage design to backstage riders. So we have to wonder where they find the time to release a slew of smartphone apps that will no doubt enhance the festival experience providing everything you need to get organised for the day.

Last year over 100,000 people downloaded the Big Day Out App and the team have been working overtime to bring you a bigger and better App for Big Day Out 2012. The app this year is fully integrated with social networking, so you can set your logins for Facebook and Twitter to make posting pics and comments easy. You can also read all the Big Day Out Blog, Facebook and Twitter news in one place with options to share the articles.

Click on any item in the Lineup to see a full bio and links to the artist’s website, iTunes, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and more. There’s also the Big Day Out 2012 Video playlist where you can browse through artist videos and discover new acts. Of course the Event Maps will appear in the App in time for the festival so you can navigate your way from stage to stage.

But the feature they’re most proud of is the Schedule Sync that allows you to put your Custom Schedule from www.bigdayout.com in your pocket. You can share your timetable with your friends on Facebook/Twitter and see what they have selected – it’s good to know what your peeps are up to … And say goodbye to squinting as we now have a horizontal timetable for clearer viewing – turn your phone horizontally to view the full grid schedule.

Other exciting new features are our convenient weather function so you’ll know just what to expect from your Big Day Out and our Photo Gallery full of classic festival snaps.

The app is free and available to download from the iTunes store for iPhone now. Search the App Store for “Big Day Out” or visit the www.bigdayout.com to get more info. The app will also be made available to Android devices in the market on the 9th January.
