Although it seems as though the drama surrounding the Smashing Pumpkins reunion has overshadowed the promise of new music, fans hungry for new tunes may not have to wait too much longer.

Corgan has taken to Instagram again to reveal the release plans for new Pumpkins music, which described as near completion. In the caption of the post, Corgan revealed that the intended idea for release will include rolling out the eight finished songs as “two four-track EPs”. He also alluded to potential release dates, with the first single planned for a May reveal.

“So almost all the musical side is done with 2 days to go, leaving background vocals and last minute touches/flourishes/drang. For those who missed it, the 8 songs are as titled: Solara, Marchin’ On, Travels, Seek and You Shall Destroy, With Sympathy, Knights of Malta, Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts), and Alienation.”

“The intended plan being to release the songs over two, four song E.P.’s, with a first song most likely due out in May”

Corgan has also taken to Instagram to reveal that the recoridng process ended on a ” truly epic sing on Knights of Malta with 3 unbelievably talented women”, which he compared to the recording of the band’s defining hit, ‘Today’.

A friend (@mancowmuller if you must know) recently asked me why every photo on my IG is taken with my shirt off. Now, that doesn’t exactly jive with my memory, but that’s fine. There is the world we actually live in and then the one we think thru false impression exists, and I’m fine with both; knowing that I must navigate both. So in this photo I don’t have a shirt on, just a robe, and it’s for you Erich even though you have a lovely wife. In other ‘news’, recording is now finished for the upcoming ‘Shiny and Oh So Bright’ ep’s 1 + 2, which ended last night with a truly epic sing on Knights of Malta with 3 unbelievably talented women. Probably one of my favorite experiences ever recording with @smashingpumpkins, right up there with the strings on ‘Tonight’. So yes, it’s *all* save for the mixing and mastering. Thank you to everyone who has been so sweet and supportive. We hope to make you proud. @jamesihaofficial @chamberdrums @jjjschroeder #SP2018 #shinyandohsobright
