Considering that Bob Dylan’s musical career is about to hit 60-years-old in 2019, it would be fair to say that the list of things he’s done far outweighs the list of things he hasn’t. Regardless, the Nobel Prize-winning musician has just surprised everyone with the announcement that he is set to launch his own brand of whiskey.

As The New York Times reports, Dylan has teamed up with Angel’s Envy’s Marc Bushala to create ‘Heaven’s Door,’ a line of whiskey that includes a straight rye, a Tennessee bourbon, and a double barrel whiskey.

Originally trademarked as “bootleg whiskey” back in 2015, Dylan’s Heaven’s Door whiskey line is set to launch next month, with the Heaven’s Door Spirits partnership raising over $35 million from investors in its initial phase.

“We both wanted to create a collection of American whiskeys that, in their own way, tell a story,” explained Bob Dylan in a statement to The New York Times. “I’ve been traveling for decades, and I’ve been able to try some of the best spirits that the world of whiskey has to offer. This is great whiskey.”

Heaven’s Door is set to sell for roughly $50 to $80 USD per bottle, though it’s not known if it will find its way to Australia any time soon. In keeping with Dylan’s infamous way of releasing his work, the whiskey line is set to also be released in an annual Bootleg Series, which will cost about $400 USD and will feature ceramic bottles decorated with Dylan’s original artwork.

“For people who are surprised that he did a whiskey,”said Marc Bushala, “I guess they don’t really know Dylan. People who know him expect him to do things they would never expect.”
