Justin Vernon, leader of the US indie-folk-turned-folktronica band Bon Iver, has taken to Instagram to tease what appears to be new music.

Taking to Instagram just hours ago, Vernon shared two videos of music being recorded, while unidentified footage is projected against the studio wall.

Both videos tend to indicate that the new tunes follow along with the avant-garde style that we saw with the most recent Bon Iver record, but there’s no telling whether or not this is indeed new Bon Iver material, or some unrelated project that Justin Vernon is currently involved in.

Check out the two Instagram videos that Justin Vernon shared, below.

Following these videos, Vernon also shared a video of a toilet cubicle, covered in graffiti – presumably recorded while on a music-making break. While we won’t post that one here, it’s still available on his Instagram page if you’re interested.

You might recall last year that in typical, fun-loving Bon Iver style, the band got a lot of Australia talking when they announced a secret event that was set to happen in Melbourne. After fans ended up driving a local café owner crazy with constant calls, the event turned out to be a listening party in a Melbourne laneway, with the new album being played on cassette.

While there’s no telling if this new Bon Iver material is going to follow in the footsteps of the group’s last record, 22, A Million, the sounds that we’re hearing in these videos does tend to indicate that the slow, introspective Bon Iver that we fell in love with may well be a thing of the past, not that there’s anything wrong with that, though.
