Taylor Swift’s fans have been given a lesson in rock music, with Bryan Adams appearing as a special guest at the singer’s recent show in Canada.

Back in 2011, Taylor Swift started to thrown in a cover of Bryan Adams’ 1984 ‘Summer Of ’69’ at some of her US tour dates. While the vast majority of her fans weren’t even born by the time that the original song came out (heck, even Taylor Swift was born five years after the track was released), the cover was well-received, and the tune has managed to curate a legacy which has seen it become recognised as one of the greatest rock songs of the ’80s.

Now, while visiting the city of Toronto in Canada on Saturday night for her Reputation world tour, Taylor Swift decided to bring out one of the country’s favourite sons for a new performance of the classic track.

Introducing the track as “one of my favourite songs ever written,” before clarifying that “it’s not one of mine,” Taylor Swift jumped into a performance of the track, only to be joined onstage by the one and only Bryan Adams soon after.

While Taylor Swift’s country-pop roots definitely shone through during the performance, the pair definitely made a formidable duo that certainly did the tune justice.

This performance also comes just a few years after alt-country rocker Ryan Adams famously covered the track, years after the infamous incident where he grew tired of a heckler’s repeated request for the song, stopping the show, and even offering the heckler the cost of the ticket price to leave the venue.

While the song might have an intriguing history when it comes to live performances, Taylor Swift and Bryan Adams definitely delivered a surprisingly decent cover of the radio-staple, and undoubtedly introduced a few new fans to the work of Bryan Adams.
