It’s been over forty years since they split up, but ledendary American psych rock band Buffalo Springfield have announced that they’ll be touring next year, The band, who feature none other than Neil Young and Stephen Stills, are set to team up with fellow founding member Richard Furay and bassist Rick Rosas and drummer Joe Vitale.

While fans had been hoping that rumours of the band getting back in the Tarago this year would be true, Furay posted a message on Facebook hosing down the hype, saying that the tour would not happen until next year. “I’m not going to spend a lot time here with details as you speculate among yourselves,” Furay wrote. “There’s nothing to speculate about, the tour has simply been moved.”

A band spokesperson then confirmed the details, saying “The Buffalo Springfield tour has been scheduled for 2012. Richie, Stephen and Neil remain incredibly excited about the tour. As soon as routing and dates are confirmed, Buffalo Springfield will announce all details to the public.”

The legendary band reunited last October to play Neil Young’s Bridge School benefit, then brought down the house when the headlined the Bonnaroo Festival in the US this year, leading to speculation that it’d be more than a one off gig. No word on any Australian dates yet – promoters please get to work on this one now!
