Christmas is a hard time for families who have lost people throughout the year, and sadly, being the family of a well-respected and beloved rock musician doesn’t exclude you from the pain and sadness that the holidays can bring. One such example is the family of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, who have chosen to release a touching Christmas video made by his son a number of years ago.

Chris Cornell sadly passed away back in May of this year, leaving behind his wife Vicky, and two children Toni and Christopher. Vicky has since been vocal about Cornell’s life, speaking frequently about his music, legacy, and the impact that he had not only on the world of music, but his family as well.

As NME reports, Chris Cornell’s family have used the Christmas period to share a video made by the rocker’s son as a part of a school project.

“Sharing a special Christmas video that Chris made with C 3 years ago for school,” Vicky wrote. “While the holidays will never be the same again without Chris, we will always remember his boundless love. Happy Holidays & thank you all for your much needed love and support”.

As NME notes, the video includes footage of Chris Cornell and his family, while they share information about the traditions they participate in around the holidays, including an overseas trip to Rome. “We bring all our friends and family there, and we celebrate the holiday there,” Cornell says at one point. “It’s a very beautiful place around Christmas.”

Most recently, Chris Cornell has been listed among the names eligible for the Academy Award for Best Original Song at next year’s Oscars ceremony. Cornell’s ‘The Promise’ was recorded for the film of the same name, and is listed alongside names such as diverse as Taylor Swift, Pharell Williams and “Weird Al” Yankovic, leading some fans to believe he may be in with a shot to win a posthumous Oscar.
