Images of Chris Cornell’s last ever rehearsal with Soundgarden have been shared, just over a year on from his passing. Sound engineer Martin Strayer has taken to Instagram to share an image of Cornell and the band at their final pre-tour rehearsal from April 2017 in Tampa Bay, Florida.

In the caption to the image, Strayer remarked that Cornell was in a “great mood”, with the rest of the band appearing seemingly “so happy” to return to the stage after having a year off.

“On this day one year ago, we were in Tampa for @soundgarden rehearsals.. these were very very happy days.. @chriscornellofficial was in great mood and the band seemed so happy to be playing gigs again after a year or so off. I will forever treasure these wonderful moments of magic. I miss everyone. Band and crew will always be family to me. Thank you for the inspiration and the everlasting memories.”

It has been reported that Soundgarden member Kim Thayil will continue to reunite with fellow bandmember Matt Cameron as part of an MC5 supergroup, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of their iconic 1969 debut album Kick Out the Jams. The band are set to tour extensively around North American run in September and October.

The lineup for the supergroup includes bassist, producer and Blue Note Records president Don Was and drummer Matt Cameron from Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, alongside the latter band’s co-founder and lead guitarist Kim Thayil, Brendan Canty from Fugazi, Dug Pinnick of King’s X and Marcus Durant of Zen Guerilla.
