No matter how you look at it, R.E.M. hold a legacy as one of the most critically-acclaimed and beloved alternative-rock groups of the last few decades, so of course, it stands to reason that a selection of some of the finest local and international musicians out there would come together to pay tribute to the iconic group.

Taking place across Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney in August and September, ‘The Ones We Love: Celebrating R.E.M.’ is set to pay tribute to R.E.M.’s long-lasting legacy with an array of ultra-talented musicians coming together to cover the band’s legendary hits.

Featuring The Tea Party’s Jeff Martin, The Church’s Steve Kilbey, Died Pretty’s Ron S. Peno, Trish Young of The Clouds, Alannah Russack of The Hummingbirds, Crow’s Peter Fenton, Greg Atkinson of Ups & Downs and Big Heavy Stuff, and Even’s guitar genius Ashley Naylor, this is a veritable who’s-who of Aussie rock (and yes, that includes honorary Aussie Jeff Martin).

This all-star lineup is also set to be joined by The Go-Betweens’ Amanda Brown, who will be taking part as an extra special guest.

R.E.M. first formed back in 1980, and released 15 years albums across their storied career, with their last, Collapse Into Now, being released just six months before the group’s dissolution in late 2011.

Undoubtedly, this will likely be one of the few chances you get to hear alt-rock gems like ‘Losing My Religion’, ‘The One I Love’, and the phenomenal ‘The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite’ performed live, so be sure not to miss out on what is set to be an amazing series of performances.

Pre-sale tickets to The Ones We Love go on sale 9am, Friday, May 4th, with tickets going on sale to the general public at 9am, Monday, May 7th from Metropolis Touring.
