Is the Counter Revolution festival in Melbourne in trouble and looking for a new home already? Only a few weeks after announcing that the one day event would be held at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Friday 30th September with a skeleton crew of acts originally planned for the cancelled Soundwave Revolution festival the venue website and the site for purchasing tickets now states that the venue is TBA or ‘To Be Advised’.

With just over five weeks to go before the event, it’s not a long time to find an alternative venue. According to organiser AJ Maddah’s twitter page he’s knocked heads with the venue, saying

According to the event’s Facebook page less that 600 were attending at the time of publishing, with many fans wondering what was happening with the event.

The Sidney Myer Music Bowl has a capacity of up to 14,000 music fans for most gigs – could organisers have overestimated the number of people that want to attend the gig?

Will the event be moved to a much smaller venue. Will other Counter Revolution events in other cities be downgraded to smaller venues? We’ll keep you posted when we hear any more details and when another Melbourne venue is confirmed.
