We know Courtney Barnett has struck a chord with as many people overseas as she did when she first broke through in her home country, but getting top billing on the stacked Desert Daze lineup is a big win.
Sitting atop the lineup with UK rockers Spiritualized, Court will be joined by Kurt Vile and the Sea Lice, with whom she’s currently working on a new record. This sees her topping a long list of names including Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Panda Bear, Ariel Pink, Eagles of Death Metal, Hope Sandoval and more.
Better yet, fellow Aussies King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are also sitting pretty around the top of the bill, and we’re sure they’ll bring a contingent of crazy fans to the desert bash, while winning over plenty more when the festival hits Joshua Tree, CA from October 12-15.
Courtney has announced that her album with Kurt album will be “coming soon”, and will be accompanied by a US tour kicking off in October to coincide with Desert Daze, with the duo apologising to fans in other countries disappointed they’re being left out.
“I wish we could take the tour all around the world,” she says, “but due to both our intercontinental schedules, this is all we can muster for now.”
