With the help of Reverb, Grohl is giving fans the chance to bid on brand-new pieces of the gear that Grohl used to make PLAY, donated by DW Drums, Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, Ludwig, Masters Of Maple, and Zildjian—and signed by the musician himself. All the money raised will go to organisations that help young musicians “just play”.

On why he chose to donate to organisations supporting young musicians, Grohl said “Seeing my own kids start to play music and take lessons brings me back to the time when I was their age, chipping away at it and learning from my mistakes. Even now, as a 49-year-old man, I’m still trying to figure it out,” Grohl told us, sharing his inspiration for the auction.

“It’s not something that you ever truly master. You’re always chasing the next challenge, and you’re always trying to find a way to improve what you’ve learned. It’s a lifelong obsession, but at the end of the day—just like any kid—the reward is just to play.”

Grohl is currently touring America with Foo Fighters and his daughter who is singing backing vocals in their show. He also performed with both his daughters recently at a charity gig. He’s also set to appear on the 50th anniversary of Sesame Street. Watch Grohl’s incredible PLAY below, and check out all the info on the auction here.
